Size: 30-50m H occasionally to 90m
Leaves: Juvenile - opposite, stalkless, broad lanceolate, green, to 8cm long; adult - lanceolate to slightly sickle shaped, green, 12-20cm long.
Flowers: The flower buds are arranged in groups of three or seven on an unbranched peduncle 4–10 mm long, the individual buds sessile or on pedicels up to 5 mm long. Mature buds are oval to spindle-shaped, 5–9 mm long and 3–6 mm wide with a conical, rounded, or beaked operculum.
Flowering Time: Summer/autumn.
Fruit: Hemispherical, to 8mm across, valves raised above rim.
Habitat/distribution: Widespread in open dry sclerophyll forest, from sea level to 600m, in the eastern half of the State and Bass Strait islands. Also SA, Vic, NSW, Q.
