Leaves: Grey/green, obovate, 15-30mm long with a blunt apex.
Flowers: Solitary, white, numerous, terminal on short side branches. Receptacle and sepals with soft hairs.
Flowering Time: Profuse in late spring/early summer, sporadic throughout the year.
Fruit: A persistent hairy capsule with 4-5 cells.
Habitat/distribution: Widespread in moist, sandy coastal heaths, on riverbanks, fringing montane grasslands and west coast rainforest. Also SA, Vic, NSW.
Where to See: waterlogged areas such as moist, sandy coastal heaths, on river banks, riparian scrub, woodlands and on the fringe of montane grasslands.
Other notes:The seeds, encased in woody capsules, remain on the tree for years after maturity, requiring fire or a similar disturbance for release.
