Size: 9-30m H
Leaves: Juvenile – broadly elliptical, slightly glaucous or green, to 5cm long; adult – elliptical/lanceolate with hooked tip, greyish green, to 10cm long.
Flowers: The flowers are borne in groups of three, seven or nine in leaf axils on a peduncle 4–12 mm long, the individual buds on a pedicel 1–7 mm long. Mature buds are oval, glaucous, 5–8 mm long and 4–7 mm wide with a warty, hemispherical to more less flattened operculum.
Flowering Time: Summer
Fruit: Hemispherical, 10-12mm wide, valves level with the rim.
Habitat/distribution: Central Plateau and southern mountains, 750-1350m altitude.
Where to See: Dominant species of many exposed, rocky, dolerite rich sub-alpine regions.
