Leaves: narrow, cylindrical 3 – 9cm long; very prickly
Flowers: cream to pink spider-like 4 – 8 mm in the leaf axils
Flowering Time: Late winter/spring
Fruit: Woody follicle with rough surface and prominent beak. Opens in response to stress (fire)
Habitat/distribution: Drysclerophyll forests and open heathlands. Scattered locations in east, northeast and Furneaux group, also SA, Vic and NSW
Other notes: good for attracting birds and deterring people and feral animals
