Leaves: Up to 2m x about 0.6cm, channelled, deep green, rough, sharp-edged, mostly basal.
Flowers: Panicle to 60cm x 7cm, distinctive dark brown, pendulous with age, and spreads through its rhizomes.
Flowering Time: October to January
Fruit: Nut about 0.2cm long, dark brown to black.
Habitat/distribution: Clumping perennial.Sandy heaths, coastal scrub and woodland, margins of swamps, lowland areas.
Where to See: Mostly coastal and near coastal. Up to 100 metres in altitude. Tamar Valley, North East, East coast and Furneaux islands.
